From A Rented Corner To A Club
How two generations of passion for wrestling turned into BWW Sports.
Started From Passion
BWW Sports didn't begin as a business plan — it began as passion passed down. We're two generations deep in wrestling, learning the sport from family before we could read a rulebook, long before either of us thought about coaching. What we picked up on the mat as kids is the same foundation everything here is built on: put the hours in, respect the sport, and the rest follows.
Part Of Our Culture
For us, wrestling was never just a sport — it's part of where we come from. Across South Asia and the Middle East, wrestling has been woven into community life for generations: a way young people learned respect, resilience, and toughness long before it ever became a competitive discipline with weight classes and scoreboards. Bringing that culture into a club here felt less like starting something new and more like continuing something old.
An Identity Thousands Of Years Old
Wrestling is one of the oldest sports in human history, practised in some form by nearly every culture on earth for thousands of years. That shared history is exactly why it works as a leveller — it doesn't matter where a kid is from, what they look like, or what background they carry through the door. On the mat, everyone answers to the same values: discipline, fairness, and respect for the person across from you. That's what we're really coaching.
No Help, No Venue
When we decided to turn this into something real, the first thing we needed was somewhere to train. We went to the local council for support finding a venue and came away with nothing — no funding, no space, no real interest in backing a grassroots wrestling club. If this was going to happen, we'd have to find another way ourselves.

Renting A Corner Of Someone Else's Gym
So we did it ourselves. We rented a few hours a week from a local boxing gym, sharing space that was never built for wrestling and making it work anyway. It wasn't glamorous — mats down before every session, mats away after — but it was ours, and it was enough to get the first classes running.
Four Years On
We opened our first session with four kids and a rented corner of someone else's gym. What kept us going wasn't ambition — it was watching those four kids grow, and seeing the values wrestling instilled in them make a real, visible difference. Four years later, built on nothing but word of mouth and results, we now coach [add current member numbers / class sizes here].
Getting Kids Off Their Phones And Onto The Mat
Our goal now is bigger than one club. We want to get as many young people as possible away from endless scrolling and onto a mat instead. Every hour spent training is an hour not spent passively consuming low-effort content or drifting into the kind of antisocial behaviour that comes from too much unstructured screen time. Wrestling gives kids somewhere to put their energy, a community that holds them accountable, and values that carry over long after they leave the gym.
